  • Staying updated on changes and processes pertinent to maintaining necessary skills, abilities to perform minor procedures, and abilities to provide effective patient care

  • Refers patients to the most appropriate providers

  • Stays updated on procedures, medications, diagnostics, and therapeutics that can be used to optimize patients’ plans of care 

 PRIME is a mnemonic and an appropriate tool that can be used to assess clinical and diagnostic reasoning of Nurse Practitioner students (D’Aousta et al., 2021). The mneumonic PRIME stands for (P) professional, (R) reporter, (I) interpreter, (M) manager, and (E) educator (D’Aousta et al., 2021).
